COVID-19 vaccine gives subjects 'severe hangover'

Volunteers who received Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine say its side effects are similar to a "bad hangover." The edition told in more detail Independent.

The reported side effects of the vaccine, which has now been proven to be safe, came just days after Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech announced that the drug has shown 90% effectiveness.

In the trial, more than 43 volunteers from six countries were not informed about whether they received a vaccine or a placebo.

However, some of the volunteers realized that they had received the vaccine because of certain side effects, such as headaches or muscle aches.

According to 44-year-old Glenn Deschields from Austin, Texas, the side effects were similar to "short-term severe hangover."

The antibody test confirmed Deshields' guesses - he received the real vaccine, not a placebo.

Another volunteer, a 45-year-old Missouri woman, said that after the first injection she had a fever, headache and body aches, which she compared to symptoms after a flu shot. After the second injection, these side effects were more pronounced.

In a statement on the effectiveness of the vaccine, Dr. Albert Burla, Pfizer Chairman and CEO, said: “Today is a great day for science and humanity. The first results from the third phase of our COVID-19 vaccine trial provide evidence of the vaccine's ability to prevent disease. ”

At the moment, questions still remain about how effective the vaccine is, depending on age and ethnicity, and how long immunity can last. So far, the tests have been conducted on healthy people between the ages of 18 and 65.
