Israeli bumblebees will be denied the right to pollinate Ural tomatoes
One of the largest greenhouse farms in the Sverdlovsk region, as part of import substitution, switched to the use of bumblebees grown in the Moscow region. Previously, for the pollination of vegetables, the company purchased insects from Israel.
“It is more profitable and more convenient for us to work with a domestic producer, as its specialists can come to us at any time and advise from a scientific point of view how best to place hives in a greenhouse for full pollination of plants and a favorable life for the insects themselves,” said the acting director CJSC Teplichnoe Roman Tyagunov.
With the help of bumblebees near Moscow, the farm expects to get more than two thousand tons of cucumbers and over 4,2 thousand tons of tomatoes in one season.
