Ilon Mask talked about his health problems

According to the entrepreneur, he works on 120 hours a week and he does not even have time to sleep.

In an interview with Andrew Ross Sorkin, a columnist with The New York Times, Ilon Musk spoke about health problems due to non-stop work at Tesla. The businessman claims that he spends around the clock at work and almost missed his brother's wedding because of the need to manage the company.

As Sorkin noted, during the interview Musk "wept or laughed." The businessman admitted that because of the need to fulfill an ambitious plan to build new Tesla, he spent his 47 birthday on June 28 in the company's office. According to him, he worked all day and stayed at work for the night "without friends and without nothing."

Two days later, the entrepreneur needed to fly to the wedding of his brother Kimbal in Catalonia, but because of the management of Tesla, he almost missed it. Mask said that he flew straight from the factory and arrived at the ceremony 2 hours before it began. And after graduation he immediately returned to Tesla headquarters and continued to work.

According to the entrepreneur, he recently worked 120 hours a week, and for the last time on vacation for more than a week, he went to 2001, when he contracted malaria.

It happened that I did not leave the plant for three or four days - days when I did not even go out. And this happened due to the time that I could spend with children or friends.

Mask said that recycling is not the best impact on his health. When an entrepreneur does not work, he tries to sleep, but recently he has to take sleeping pills.

Some board members are concerned that Musk is taking sleeping pills. According to them, sometimes even after the drug, Musk does not sleep, but participates in nightly tweets. NYT sources on the board said Musk uses recreational drugs.

The head of Tesla explained that he did not eat "weed" because it does not help to be productive.

The businessman also spoke in detail about the situation with the tweet about Tesla privatization. He denied having tweeted under the influence of drugs. Initially, Musk wanted to set the sum of 419 dollars per share as a starting point, but rounded to 420. He chose this cost to offer 20% to investors, and the coincidence with the code for using marijuana came out by chance.

Mask said that he woke up in the house with his girlfriend Grimes that morning and had an early training session. After that, he sat in the Tesla Model S and went to the airport, and along the way he scored a tweet, which provoked a violent reaction on the stock exchange.

According to Mask, he wanted to communicate his plans transparently and did not show anyone the record before publication. Because of the tweet, Tesla shares soared by 7% for an hour and continued to rise until an unplanned stop in trading. Analysts, investors and journalists were surprised by this situation, as usually such statements are issued after the end of the trading day, and Tesla had to issue an open letter to Mask employees.

The next day, the Securities and Exchange Commission demanded an explanation from Musk, but did not initiate an official investigation. The regulator doubted that Musk actually had financing to buy out Tesla; as it turned out, the deal with the Saudi fund was far from completed. The entrepreneur said that he does not regret his tweet and will continue to use social networks.
