Florida Governor lifts all coronavirus restrictions in state
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has suspended all local COVID-19 emergency measures. He issued an executive order banning all local measures in the state from July 1, writes CBS News.
DeSantis cited the widespread availability of vaccines in the state and said supply has now outstripped demand.
20,9 million doses have been distributed across the state, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In a population of approximately 21,5 million, 15,5 million have been vaccinated.
DeSantis made the announcement by signing a law prohibiting organizations, including private businesses, from demanding so-called "vaccine passports." He amended the State's Emergency Management Act to limit local authority.

“I'm going to sign the bill, it will go into effect on July 1,” DeSantis said on Monday, May 3. — I will also sign an executive order consistent with this bill repealing all remaining local COVID emergency orders that went into effect July 1. But then, to bridge the gap from what has gone before, I am going to suspend local emergency orders related to COVID, consistent with my authority. I think it's based on evidence."
According to him, the governor's administration wants people to "have fun" and "live freely in Florida."
DeSantis has already unilaterally banned even private businesses from requiring proof of vaccination to enter.
The law prohibiting vaccine passports, effective July 1, carries a $ 5000 fine any time a business or educational institution requires proof of vaccination for a visit or admission.

A Republican and would-be presidential candidate until 2024, DeSantis was among the governors who were quickest to roll back COVID-19 security protocols.
