The terrorist attack in New York: the driver drove into the crowd, there are dead

The driver drove a truck to a crowd of people in lower Manhattan, at the World Trade Center memorial, and then got out of the vehicle shouting “Allah Akbar!”. According to preliminary data, 8 people died, 11 were injured.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, who urgently went to the scene of the tragedy, said that he considers what happened as a terrorist act.

The driver managed to hit at least two people and crashed into a school bus. Witnesses say they heard about 4-6 shots.

According to updated information, the 29-year-old van driver tried to crush pedestrians for several quarters. The shooting was allegedly the first to be started by police officers who wounded a man in the leg. Reports about it CNN, with reference to the New York Police Department.

Police reported that the man at the wheel had with him a fake of a firearm. The police fired several shots, wounded him in the stomach and detained him.

After his arrest, he was sent to a hospital, where he was operated on after being wounded, according to medical forecasts, the man will live.

According to CBS journalist Bill Reikopf, the terrorist driver is named Saifullo Khabibulaevich Saipov. Supposedly, he is a citizen of Uzbekistan, the journalist wrote in his Twitter.

The same information was confirmed by the TV channel ABC. According to him, Saipov 29 years, he immigrated to the United States from Uzbekistan in 2010 year.

Saipov lives in Tampa, Florida, and the state’s driver’s license was found with him.

Edition Heavy found out that Saipov is a habitual traffic violator and the owner of two transportation companies in Ohio. More information about the criminal - here.

Information about the identity of the terrorist has not yet been confirmed by official sources.

Later, the police said that one of the attacker's gun was intended for paintball, and the second was pneumatic.

Van owned by the company Home Depotthat can be seen on the logo on the car door.

Presumably, the suspect took it for rent.

US President Donald Trump commented on the incident in New York in his Twittercalling the culprit a sick and abnormal person.
