Russian emigration sentiment has not changed
Emigration attitudes in Russia are approximately at the same level: 13% of respondents of the July survey said they would like to go live abroad.
Among the reasons for a possible move, for the first time, Russians cited dissatisfaction with “the policies pursued by the authorities” and “respect for human rights.”
The general director of the polling center, Valery Fedorov, explains this by saying that the opposition is “replicating the thesis” about the onset of “complete authoritarianism” in the country.
The majority of those who “would like” to move abroad link their desire to a possible increase in the standard of living, salary, pension or benefit (40%).
Another 9% would like to live in a country with a different climate, 7% are looking for “social security” and “stability,” and 6% are looking for “opportunities for career growth” and “doing business.” 4% said that they “strongly do not like living in Russia.”
