Joe Biden is 78 years old: how old were other presidents at the time of inauguration

Biden will be older than any other US president on his inauguration day. He will break the record set by his predecessor, President Donald Trump, who was 2017 when he took office in January 70.
The average age of presidents who have taken office since 1960 is about 56 years old. When Trump took office, he barely beat President Ronald Reagan's record of 69. Reagan remains the oldest president at the time of leaving office - he was 77 years old. But it is obvious that Biden will be able to break this record.

Biden called his age an advantage, stating that it serves as a "bridge" to the next "generation of leaders."

Biden's election is an anomaly for the Democratic Party. Democratic presidents were usually younger than their Republican counterparts. Indeed, of the five youngest presidents ever elected, three were Democrats: John F. Kennedy (43), Bill Clinton (46), and Barack Obama (47).
Biden is older than all but one of the five living presidents: Jimmy Carter, who is now 96 years old, making him the longest-living president ever elected, but he took office at the age of 52.
