Joe Biden Supports Minimum Patch Increase
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo will be joined by Vice President Joe Biden to raise the minimum wage across the state to 15 dollars an hour.
A Cuomo spokesman said that Biden, who is considering running for president, will meet with the governor at the Javits Center on the west side of Manhattan. Sources say that Labor Commissioner Mario Musolino approved the increase in the minimum wage of fast food workers to 15 dollars per hour by the end of 2018 and throughout the state by July 2021.
To raise the minimum wage for workers in all industries in the state, legislators need permission. While the Democratic Party, which dominates the Assembly, support the idea, which is controlled by the Republicans, the Senate is against.
Currently, the minimum wage is 8,75 dollars per hour, and by the end of the year it will rise to nine dollars.
