The ten most underestimated states in America: a traveler told where you can see the beauty of nature without queues

Katherine Parker-Magyar has visited every state in America at least twice, and many more than a dozen times.
Although some states get all the attention, she is always surprised how others go unnoticed.

Luckily, she knows there are hidden gems scattered all over the country, from the Green Mountains of Vermont to the beautiful islands off the coast of Washington.

So, here are the 10 most underrated US states worth visiting:

The charm of South Dakota should not be overlooked.

The charm of South Dakota is greatly underestimated, as the state is home to an impressive Badlands national park и wall drug, giant tourist attractions with shops and restaurants.

The state also has many buffalo and open spaces.

Georgia is the most underrated state in the South.

The barrier islands off the coast of Georgia are a hidden gem for many people outside of the American South.

Five star resort Sea island (where John F. Kennedy Jr. and Caroline Bessette got married) may be the most famous place, but Katherine grew up vacationing on Tybee Island и Jekyll Island.

Additionally, Savannah One of the most beautiful and charming cities in the country, it could be a more low-key alternative for travelers who are overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Sometimes Idaho is overshadowed by the states to its east.

Idaho unfairly remains in the shadow of its eastern neighbors, but this will not continue for very long.

Katherine grew up camping on redfish lakewhich is north of Sun Valley, Sawtooth National Forest. She always marveled that Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming had all the attention in Mountain West.

If you pass through Idaho Falls to Teton Pass in Jackson, Wyoming, you'll get some of the best views in the country.

Idaho can also be quite accessible to visitors, and you can pay a reasonable price to rent a property with a view of Rocky Mountain.

There's more to Maryland than crab cakes and football.

Rhode Island may be known as the Ocean State, but Maryland is another sailing capital in the US.

East Coast splendor has been popularized by films like The Intruders, but it's important to note that crab cakes and football aren't all Maryland has to offer.

As a link between the American North and South, the state has a rich history. Visitors can take tours of the Underground Railroad as well as see the famous wild horses on Assateague Island.

Plus, you won't want to miss Preakness Stakes, horse racing at Pimlico Race Course.

Katherine believes that Wisconsin is a hidden gem in the heart of America.

Driving downtown is one of the best things to do in the United States, and she thinks Wisconsin, especially the northern part of it, is an absolute hidden gem. It has a beautiful lake district and fantastic countryside.

More recently, a traveler headed north to color, to visit american club и Whistling Straits, and stopped at one of the Great Lakes.

“Besides, watching the Packers play at Lambeau Field is like seeing Bruce Springsteen at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey at home,” she said.

The green mountains of Vermont are amazing.

In search of higher peaks, some travelers head overseas to the Alps or across the country to the Rocky Mountains, not realizing that there is a magnificent, amazing mountain range in the northeastern United States - The Green Mountains of Vermont.

“The mountain where I spent most of my time as a child and still is Okemo in Ludlow, but Mount Snow, Stowe and Killington not to be missed,” says Catherine.

And although the state is considered a winter destination, there is something to do here all year round. The Vermont Country Store is always a must-see.

Utah's national parks are always breathtaking.

“The diversity of Utah's landscapes is one of the most powerful memories of my childhood. There are incredible red rocks and arches, as well as sandstone cliffs of all shades,” says the traveler.

There is more to Utah than just Park City and Salt Lake City. In terms of national parks, the big five are Bryce canyone; Arches, Zion, Capitol Reef and canyonlands - hard to beat.

New Jersey should not be overlooked as a travel destination on the East Coast.

There's a lot more to New Jersey than you might think—it's called the Garden State for a reason.

“Don't miss the colonial houses and the history of Morristown and the surrounding area. They are also not well-known places Jockey Hollow and the Great Swamp”, says Katherine.

In addition, the diverse Jersey Shore has something for everyone, whether it's the Victorian mansions of Cape May, the Americana of Asbury Park and Seaside Heights, the nightlife of Avalon, the paradise of Long Beach Island or the charisma of Sandy Hook.

The state is rich in wild beauty. Red Rock Canyon in the Mojave desert is impressive, as is Great Basin National Parkwhich is not too crowded.

“Most recently, I visited Reno, Nevada to participate in Great balloon race in Reno, and was amazed by the beauty of the area and the coolness of the city. Street art and atmosphere is suitable for people for whom Burning Man “It’s not just a vacation, it’s a lifestyle,” says the traveler.

In 1950, most of Nevada was approved for nuclear weapons testing, which led to an amazing artistic atmosphere throughout the state. Visit "Seven Magic Mountains» Ugo Rondinone and the Nevada Museum of Art.

Finally, the sunsets here are epic, especially in the desert and on Lake Tahoe.

“Recently I visited Incline Villagee and was amazed by her beauty. The Nevada side of the lake should not be overlooked by tourists who associate it with California,” says Katherine.

Washington may be the most underrated state in the US.

“I spent my summers in high school living on Lopez Island, which is part of an archipelago of 400 islands off the coast of the state, and it is one of the most beautiful parts of the country,” says Catherine.

Some islands don't even have traffic lights, but killer whales can be seen in local waters instead.

Mount rainier one of the most beautiful national parks, and Olympic National Park also greatly underestimated.

“I just recently went on a hike to Poo Poo Point, and although it may have been tiring, the views were worth it,” says Katherine.
