What is Aldi's avenue of shame and why shoppers love it
Over the past few years, discount grocery store Aldi has built a loyal customer base that rivals Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. In addition to its low prices, it also attracted attention with what Aldi fans have dubbed the "Aisle of Shame". Mentalfloos
What is Aisle of Shame? For Aldi fans, this is the most exciting part of the store that they can talk about for hours.
Aisle of Shame is the nickname for Aldi's middle aisle, which in most stores is filled with special offers on food, as well as non-food items and curiosities, sometimes curated by season or theme.

According to Atlas ObscuraAldi shoppers can find anything from a donut maker to apple and cinnamon-flavored dog biscuits. The thrill, if that kind of feeling can be experienced at the grocery store, is walking around the Aisle of Shame and wondering what you can find.
Aldi enthusiast Stephanie Fleming has created both the Aisle of Shame website and her Facebook group, which boasts over 1 million members and traffic of finds, discussions and Atlas Obscura's dedicated language. Members are said to even make a “croaking sound” in the aisle to see if there are other Atlas Obscura lovers nearby.
Atlas Obscura's dedicated fans are diligent and persistent in their quest. When news of a new product (like an edible calendar or a lounge chair) breaks, consumers go on the hunt. The most popular viral finds of 2021 were Aldi decorative gnomes; black jumpsuit; “luxury” sofa for pets; candle made from an autumn flannel shirt; garden dining table. The search—and the resulting bragging rights—has turned the store aisle into something of a social media scavenger hunt.
