Bernie Sanders is sure that Americans will be happy to pay more taxes.

Senator and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders continues to defend democratic socialism, arguing that Americans will be "happy to pay more taxes."

On Wednesday, Sanders tried to sway voters toward the ideology of democratic socialism. He supported a so-called “Economic Bill of Rights,” which would give every American the right to things like free health care and education. He also insisted that President Trump is a "corporate socialist" who provides billions in subsidies and tax breaks for corporations.

During an interview on CNN, a Democratic candidate was asked how he responds to Trump’s attacks on the campaign, especially when the president refers to Venezuela as an example of failed socialism.

“Look what we have to understand, for example... the United States is the only major nation on Earth that does not guarantee health care to all people as a right,” Sanders explained.

On the subject: A daughter of immigrants from the Soviet Union criticized Bernie Sanders for his socialism.

“In a lot of European countries, like Germany, you go to college and the cost of college is zero. I think in Finland they actually pay you to go to college. In most countries in the world, the level of financial inequality is much less severe than here in the United States,” the politician added.

“But as you know, taxes in many of these countries are much higher than in the United States,” the host told Sanders.

“Yes, but I suspect many people in the country would be happy to pay more in taxes if they had free, comprehensive health care,” Sanders said.

“I live 50 miles from the Canadian border. You go to the doctor at any time. You don't take out your wallet. You have heart surgery, a heart transplant, you leave the hospital and it costs you nothing. Your children in many countries around the world can go to public colleges and universities without paying tuition, in many cases the salaries are higher,” he added.

Recall that US Senator from Vermont state Bernie Sanders in February of this year joined the 2020 presidential race of the yearpromising to transform America on the basis of its left-wing vision of economic and environmental justice.

In his speeches, the senator pays special attention to income inequality and the need for higher taxes for wealthy US residents.

But high income, numerous homes and a love of air travel caused criticism to Sanders, based on the fact that his lifestyle does not correspond to rhetoric.

If the 77-year-old senator manages to take the post of head of the United States, he will be the country's oldest president to ever take office. Now this title belongs Donald Trump - at the time of his inauguration he was 70 years old - more than any of the US presidents 44 before him. If Sanders wins, then at the time of his inauguration in January 2021, he will be 79 years old.

Bernie Sanders participated in the presidential race in 2016 year. Then he was nominated by the Democratic Party and supported Hillary Clinton, who ultimately lost to Donald Trump.
