Barack Obama plans to accept even more refugees in the US

US President Barack Obama has set a goal of admitting 110 refugees to the US during the 2017 fiscal year, which is about 10 more than originally planned and 30% more than this year, writes “Voice of America«.
The US Secretary of State John Kerry reported on the goal set by the president on Tuesday in a closed meeting with the participation of members of the legal committees of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
The last time the United States set such a large-scale task of receiving immigrants in the 1995 year - during the period of Bill Clinton’s presidency, when it was decided to accept 112 thousands of refugees. In the 2015 fiscal year, the United States accepted only 70 thousands of refugees.
The report, which was in the possession of the publication Politico, notes that the Obama administration intends to accept next year a "significantly greater" number of refugees from Syria, after the goal was reached to take 10 thousands of refugees per month in 2016.
US Secretary of State John Kerry presented the plan to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The plan was criticized by the chairman of the committee of Republican Bob Goodlatt, who said that, each year unilaterally increasing the number of accepted refugees, Barack Obama does not think about how this will affect US residents, writes Air force.
Jeff Sessions, one of the closest associates of the US presidential candidate from Republican Donald Trump, also criticized Obama’s plan, calling it reckless and extreme.
According to him, in the long run, he will lay an unbearable burden on the shoulders of American taxpayers.

Hillary Clinton, a Democratic candidate, supported Obama’s policy on increasing the number of refugees.
The representative of the Libertarian Party, Garre Johnson, could not clearly answer when asked what he would do with the humanitarian crisis in Aleppo, Syria.
