US Vice President Joseph Biden, who arrived today, December 7, in Kiev, joked about talking to his wife and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
He stated this at a briefing after negotiations with Poroshenko, Ukrainian Twitter journalist Oksana Denisova reports on Twitter.
“I talk with the president of Ukraine more often than with my wife. I think they’re both unhappy about it,” she quoted Biden as saying.
A video has also appeared on the Internet in which Biden makes this comparison.
Biden said that Washington will provide Kiev with additional financial assistance in the amount of 190 million dollars. Thus, according to him, direct support from the United States since the change of leadership in Ukraine in 2014 will be 760 million dollars.
At the same time, Biden called on Kiev to fully fulfill its obligations to the International Monetary Fund.
As the Interfax, he appealed to the Ukrainian people and authorities with a proposal to unite in the fight against corruption, which "has been holding back progress in Ukraine for too long."
Recall, during his visit to Ukraine, Biden will speak in the Verkhovna Rada, as well as will meet with President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Ukrainian reformers - representatives of the government and civil society.
