Alaska Airlines offers a subscription for $49 per month and fly for free for a whole year

Seattle-based Alaska Airlines launched flight pass, a subscription-based ticketing program that will allow West Coast travelers to access flights from 13 major California airports for as little as $49 per month. tripsavvy.

Members can fly up to 24 round trips per year on some of California's most popular routes, as well as non-stop flights to Reno, Phoenix and Las Vegas.

This is the first unlimited flight concept from a US airline since JetBlue launched its All You Can Jet membership in 2009. This subscription cost $599 per month, but included unlimited flights to all 56 domestic and international destinations served by the carrier. The airline received such high demand for this offer that they closed the program to new members shortly after its launch to ensure that those who initially signed up would have enough flights. The offer was reinstated for short periods in 2017 and 2019, but only as part of a draw.

“Flight Pass is based on our mission to offer travelers the best value destinations on the West Coast,” said Alex Corey, managing director of business and product development for Alaska Airlines.

“We care about our customers, and that means offering convenient and affordable options that fit our guests' lifestyles and help them get where they want to go,” he said.

Subscribers can choose between two annual plans: a $49 per month plan that requires bookings at least 14 days in advance, or a more flexible $199 per month plan that allows same-day bookings up to two hours before departure. Alaska Airlines frequent flyers will be able to earn miles on all Flight Pass bookings and enjoy status benefits.

At $49 a month, six annual round-trip flights with Flight will cost travelers just $588 a year—a very good deal. Including multiple high-demand itineraries like San Francisco to Palm Springs will ultimately mean you save money, especially during the 14-day booking window.

Travelers will still be responsible for paying taxes and fees for each flight in addition to the monthly subscription fee. All Flight Pass seats are in economy class and the program requires a mandatory membership for 12 months.

“After two years without traveling, guests are ready to travel again,” Corey said. “And with 100 daily flights from 16 airports throughout California and from California to Reno, Phoenix and Las Vegas, Flight Pass is excited to get them there.”
