Apple will sell parts and tools for self-repairing smartphones
Starting next year, iPhone owners will be able to repair their phones at home. The tech company said it will make the repair kits available for purchase. Writes about it The Guardian.
In early 2022 in the US, followed by the UK and other countries, a new online repair store will offer more than 200 individual parts and tools to repair the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. The service will begin by offering screen, battery and camera parts - iPhone parts , which most often break down.
“Expanding access to Genuine Apple parts gives our customers even more choice when they need repairs,” said Jeff Williams, Apple's chief operating officer.
Apple said the service will target "individual technicians with the knowledge and experience to repair electronic devices."

First, buyers should consult an official repair manual before ordering the parts they need, Apple says. Customers returning broken parts for recycling will receive discounts on their next purchase.
Apple added: "For the vast majority of customers, going to a professional service center with certified technicians using genuine Apple parts is the safest and most reliable repair method."

The service will also be available for Mac computers using M1 chips that went on sale in 2020, the company said. They announced that additional parts and repairs for the iPhone 12 and 13 will arrive later in 2022.
The move was welcomed by tech repair company iFixit, which tweeted: "So glad Apple recognized what we've always known: everyone is genius enough to fix an iPhone."
In July, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak supported campaigners for the right to renovate.
“We wouldn’t have Apple if I hadn’t grown up in a world of open technology,” he concluded. “It’s time to recognize the right to repair.”
