The organizers of the World Wrestling Championship held in Las Vegas mixed up the Russian anthems during the awards ceremony.
According to the Russian Wrestling Federation, during the award ceremony for Russian Greco-Roman wrestler Roman Vlasov, the Russian anthem, used between 1991 and 2000, “Patriotic Song” by Mikhail Glinka, was played.
According to the athlete, he did not recognize the melody. Then the error was corrected by including the existing anthem.
Roman Vlasov defeated Danish Mark Madsen in the final of the Greco-Roman wrestling competition in the weight category up to 75 kg.
The current official anthem of Russia was adopted in 2000 year. It uses music written by Alexander Alexandrov and the words of Sergei Mikhalkov.
