American swimmer Michael Phelps became 19 multiple Olympic champion
American Michael Phelps in the US Olympic team won gold in the 4x100 relay freestyle in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics and became the 19 multiple Olympic champion, reports Team USA.
In the final, the American team consisting of Phelps, Dressel, Held and Adrian showed the time 3 minutes 9,92 seconds. French swimmers (3.10,53) won silver, bronze - from Australians (3.11,37). Russian swimmers are on the 4 spot.
Phelps became the only 19 multiple-time Olympic champion in sports history. He has a total of 23 Olympic medals (19 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze).
After the Olympic Games in London in 2012, Phelps left the voyage and did not take part in competitions. The American was actively involved in golf.
In April, 2014, a swimmer, announced that he was returning to the sport, but already in October he was disqualified for six months by the US Swimming Federation for driving while intoxicated. By agreement with the leadership of the federation, the athlete declined to participate in the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan.
As the 31-year-old athlete said earlier, the Rio Olympics will be his last.
