The American cosmonaut and the head of Roskosmos staged a tough skirmish in social networks because of the sanctions
US astronaut Scott Kelly, the longest-serving American astronaut in space, is actively and very effectively campaigning on his Twitter to counter Russian propaganda and unsubstantiated attacks by Dmitry Rogozin (head of Roscosmos), reports ITC.
Interestingly, Scott Kelly tweets in Russian and yesterday he managed to bring Dmitry Rogozin to clean water - in response to skillful trolling, he switched to personal insults and threatened to destroy the ISS.
After Russia invaded Ukraine and unleashed a full-scale war, and the US and the EU imposed unprecedented sanctions, including against the aerospace industry, which only hastened the already inevitable end of the Russian cosmonautics, which has been parasitizing on the Soviet legacy for the past decades. And then Rogozin, as you know, broke. Last week, in response to US sanctions, Dmitry Rogozin said, we quote, "Let them fly into space on their brooms." Shortly after that, Elon Musk reacted - the leader of SpaceX very subtly teased Rogozin, showing what the "American broom" actually looks like.
On the subject: American port workers refused to unload cargo and ships from Russia
At the same time, Scott Kelly surpassed Elon Musk in trolling Dmitry Rogozin. He wrote: “Dimon, without these flags and the foreign exchange they bring in, your space program won't be worth a damn. Maybe you can find a job at McDonald's if McDonald's still exists in Russia.”
To the tweet of Roskosmos that employees of the enterprises of the Russian rocket and space industry supported a special military operation in Ukraine, Scott Kelly wrote: "Hey @Roskosmos, this 'special military operation' is called a war and seems to include war crimes committed by Russian forces."
Dmitry Rogozin did not come up with anything better than calling the American astronaut an "idiot" and threatened to destroy the ISS. Interestingly, Rogozin almost immediately deleted this tweet, but, as you know, you can’t hide the sewing in a bag - screenshots with evidence remained.
Let's hope that the reaction of NASA, given the events in the past (in 2021, Russia threatened the safety of the ISS crew at least three times) and direct threats will not be long in coming.

The piquancy of the situation is added by the fact that Twitter has been blocked in Russia since March 4. And Scott Kelly did not miss the chance to poke Rogozin.
He wrote: “Dimon, I thought Russia blocked Twitter. Do you have a VPN, or are you just that special?”.
Rogozin blocked Scott Kelly on Twitter.
