Mike Meyer realized his dream. The young man had just completed a three-year trip to the United States, during which he visited each of the country's 419 national parks.
The first steps on this path were taken at the foot of the Washington Monument, and the last ones were taken on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, says Voice of America.
“I chose the Lincoln Memorial because I wanted this moment to be able to look back to where I started,” says Micah. “I come from Lincoln, Nebraska, so this place is doubly symbolic.”
Micah wanted to end his journey at a monument to the president who fought for civil rights and “did a lot to make all Americans feel equal.”
On the way through the national parks 419, Mike Meyer set a record without ever interrupting his journey. The young man has seen a lot: from the ancient splendor of the Grand Canyon to the wonders of nature of Yellowstone Reserve. He sailed for miles with a mask in the Caribbean, climbed a plateau in the deserts of Texas, descended into mysterious caves, went through the trails of Native Americans and paid tribute to those killed in the battles of the Civil War.
Behind us are more than 300 thousand kilometers of roads.
“The car became my home for three years,” says the traveler.

The young man overcame almost half the way in this small white van.
His favorite place was Dinosaur National Monument on the Utah-Colorado border.
“I climbed to its highest point: incredible views open up from there: green valleys, snow-capped mountains directly above them and winding canyons,” Meyer shares his impressions. “Nature layered the rocks for centuries, and then, as it were, turned them over so that you can swim between these stone ridges on a raft.”
Which he did a few months later.
Another memorable place is Badlands National Park in South Dakota.
“What you see is essentially dust and dirt. This place has been eroded for thousands of years. Now we can see incredible shapes, wrinkles and silhouettes. Even the stones change their color depending on the time of day.”

Despite the fact that during these three years on the way he experienced many difficult moments, Mike admits that today he is happy and relieved that he was able to honor the memory of his father, who inspired him to love traveling.
“The bottom line is that you can look at the most beautiful places in America, but they will not move you the same way as if you were looking at them with someone dear to your heart,” says Maika. “I feel like I made my dad happy and paid tribute by learning this very lesson.”
