Americans are stocking up on toilet paper again: Costco has limited the sale of this product
Costco has announced new restrictions on the purchase of certain household items due to supply and distribution issues with the COVID-19 Delta strain. NPR.

The company is imposing "restrictions on key commodities" such as toilet paper, bottled water and cleaning products to meet any rush in demand from the COVID-19 surge, Costco CFO Richard Galanti said.
He did not specify how many items customers can buy at one time.
“A year ago, there was a shortage of these items,” Galanti noted.

The CFO now notes that there are many items in stores, but delays in deliveries due to "short-term shifts in shipping" could pose a problem.
Meanwhile, according to Galanti, Costco is trying to stay ahead of trends and continues to place orders ahead of time to get what they need.

In an effort to address shipping issues, Galanti told investors that the company had chartered three ocean-going vessels next year to carry several thousand containers between the United States, Asia and Canada. Each ship will be able to simultaneously transport from 800 to 1000 containers.
Galanti said the company increased its overall product price inflation this quarter, which is estimated to be between 3,5% and 4,5%.
