American woman may lose parental rights due to photos of her sick child

Back in 2014, photographer Heather Whitten took a snapshot of her sick child. This photo was the subject of an investigation by the Children's Rights Protection Department in Arizona. Now Heather Whitten is summoned to court.

In the picture in question, her husband, who holds their sick child in his arms, was captured: the one-year-old Fox was then greatly poisoned by salmonella, and the father spent a few hours with him under a cool shower to make it easier for the boy. Whitten considered this scene touching and took a picture.

She published a snapshot in social networks, and he instantly became viral. Then Facebook blocked the photo. They took an interest in the department for the protection of children's rights, where they considered that by publishing such photos in social networks, Whitten put the child at risk.

If the court takes the side of the child protection department, Whitten could be denied the right to adopt and raise children for 25 years. The ban will also affect the possibility of working with children as a photographer.

The site Change.org Signatures are currently being collected for a petition demanding the abolition of all charges against Whitten. The appeal has already been signed by over 30 thousand people.
