Amazon has opened an offline bookstore
Amazon opened its first bookstore, Amazon Books, at the University Village shopping center in Seattle, WA.
“Amazon Books is Amazon’s physical expansion. We used our twenty-year online book-selling experience to create a store that combines the benefits of offline and online book purchases, ”reads the press release.
The books in the store are selected according to amazon.com's customer estimates, the number of pre-orders, sales figures, popularity on Goodreads (a popular site for book lovers), and estimates by the company's curators. As reported in Amazon, prices in the physical store do not differ from its online version.
Amazon Books contains thousands of books. For comparison, the range of Amazon.com is estimated at millions. In addition to books, the retailer also offered customers Amazon-branded gadgets: Kindle readers, Fire TV set-top boxes, Fire Tablet tablets, smart speakers with built-in voice assistant Echo.
