Airbnb and Booking no longer work in Russia and Belarus: now residents of these countries cannot book accommodation

Airbnb Company suspended operations in Russia and Belarus. This means that bookings for accommodations and experiences in Russia and Belarus have been discontinued, and guests from those countries will no longer be able to book anywhere else.

The popular rental service Airbnb has canceled all bookings in Russia and Belarus since April 4, the company reports on its website.

Airbnb said it was suspending operations in two countries as early as March 4, but promised that all bookings made before that date would be kept. Now the position of the company has changed: the rent paid by tourists has been cancelled.

Moreover, affected travelers say in the VKontakte group that the service offers them unlimited bonuses instead of returning money. In a letter to customers, Airbnb attributes the impossibility of refunds to bank restrictions.
According to the victims, the support service still promises to send money to the tourists' bank card after the sanctions are lifted, but it is not known when.

The Booking.com booking service has suspended work with Russia and Belarus, reports Meduza.

Booking.com CEO Glenn Fogel wrote about this on the social network LinkedIn.

“Every day, as the destructiveness of the war in Ukraine grows, so do the difficulties of doing business in the region. Due to these complexities… which include significant restrictions due to the sanctions of a number of countries, we are suspending tourism services in Russia and Belarus,” Vogel said.

Earlier, Russian telegram channels and the media noticed that Booking.com had stopped showing accommodations and cars for rent in Russia and Belarus.
