3-year-old American, who survived in the forest, says that a bear saved him

A three-year-old boy, Casey Hathaway from the US county of Craven (North Carolina), claims to have spent several days in the forest with a bear. Supposedly, a wild animal helped a lost baby survive.

January 22 Casey played with his brother and sister in the backyard of his grandmother’s house, writes KP. Parents sounded the alarm when the boy did not return home with the other children. Casey was wearing a light jacket, while in North Carolina at night the thermometer drops to minus six degrees of frost.

The child was sought by rescuers using helicopters, specialists with drones and dog handlers, dozens of volunteers, combing the woods every day. After a day, the weather worsened, strong winds and rains forced to suspend the search.

When the search resumed, rescuers suggested that the baby could drown in local waters. Began to check them.

— There are plenty of bodies of water in that area. And we assumed that he might have drowned. While combing the area, we suddenly heard a child’s voice calling for his mother,” says rescuer Shane Grier. “How he got to the island and got entangled in the thorn bushes remains a mystery.”

According to Sheriff Chip Hughes, rescuers had to wade a few meters through a pile of ice and ice water. Cayce was discovered on an island in the middle of a pond. The boy managed to avoid hypothermia, there were no serious injuries.

Casey explained to the police the reason for his rescue: “I have a friend in the forest, and he took care of me all the time - this is a bear.”

The boy was glad that he was found, and asked to go home to his mother.

Many adults did not believe the boy, but he repeated the story about the bear to his aunt. After this, the relatives posted on Facebook: “The Lord sent him a friend to take care of him. Miracles happen".

As experts later said, the black bear baribal is a fairly common resident in North America. An adult bear can reach 2 meters in length and weights up to 360 kg. Despite their size, these animals rarely attack humans and try to avoid them.
