170 Temperature Records: US Expects Abnormal Cooling

“The National Meteorological Service predicts 170 potential daily low temperature records Monday through Wednesday, 11-13 on November,” Weather Channel meteorologist Jonathan Erdman wrote. “November with a touch of January.”

The temperature drop is due to the passage of the cold front through the central and eastern part of the United States from Sunday, November 10, to Tuesday, November 12.

The Weather Channel reports that the front will pass quickly through the Northern Plains and the upper Midwest on Sunday, November 10, to the Southern Plains and Ohio Valley on Monday, November 11, and then through most of the east coast and deep South on Tuesday, November 12.

This may be the coldest Veterans Day ever recorded in cities like Chicago and Minneapolis, according to Weather Channel.

By Tuesday, a record cold is possible in the northeast, in the Ohio Valley and in the south. Temperature maxima reach 30 degrees Fahrenheit (-1,1 degrees Celsius) in southern states such as Alabama.
