17 things you can get for free at Disneyland

It's no secret that a Walt Disney World vacation won't come cheap, from ticket prices to souvenirs. But there are quite a few things at Disneyland that don't cost a dime. You just need to know where to look.

Holiday Badges

Free badges that say what special occasion you're celebrating—a birthday, a family reunion, a first visit, or anything else—are available at Guest Services (you'll find them at Magic Kingdom City Hall). Badges can be worn on clothing. They will not go unnoticed by employees: it is quite possible that they will even give you a free treat - for example, a holiday cupcake!

Collectible Cards

For a fun little souvenir during your trip, ask your Disney vehicle driver if they have trading cards - they'll likely help. Cards are distributed on the monorail, ferry and resort buses. They contain information about the trip and about your favorite characters. You can also get a pack of free trading cards in Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. During "special events" in the game, you can even get rare, limited edition cards.

Tasting samples

Two words: free food! According to Susan Veness, author of Walt Disney World Walk, this is one of the potential benefits of being in Disneyland on a busy day.

“When the Magic Kingdom is busy, you may see employees from Main Street Confectionery standing outside with a tray of small treats,” she writes.

Confectionery samples do not disappoint: you can try cotton candy, ice cream, cookies and the like. Can't see the staff near the pastry shop? Sometimes samples for tasting offered in the store.

Coca Cola

If you spend part of your trip at Epcot theme park, be sure to visit Club Cool at Future World. In this trendy mall you will find self-service vending machines where you can try several different Coca-Cola options. This is not just soda, everything is stylized to the theme of the park and completely free.

Water

During a long walk in the park, you will definitely want plain water. You can get it for free here - there are drinking water fountains, and you can also get a free glass of water at the food court counters. Just ask! The Disneyland Travel Blog recommends asking for a larger cup. In the same food areas you can get free ice cubes.

Chocolate

This option is not available in Disney World, but there is in Disney Springs (if you are not going to at least look at Disney Springs during your trip, why are you here?). At the Ghirardelli soda and chocolate shop, you can get one or two free squares of mouth-watering delicacies.

Ice cream and gift cards

It's free, but it will take a lot of time. Anyone who takes part in the Disney Vacation Club tour (a two-hour presentation that lists the benefits of club membership) will receive free ice cream. At the end of the presentation, you can receive a $20 Disney gift card. The blog warns that the tour can be quite motivating - so it's important to make sure you actually need this membership.

Additional portions and toppings

Some restaurants in different parks (not all) offer free additional drinks. You can refill your drink for free at Epcot's Electric Umbrella and Sunshine Seasons, at Magic Kingdom's Restaurant Our Beare Guest and at Hollywood Studios Backlot Express. The Cosmic Ray Starlight Café and Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café, located in the Magic Kingdom, have topping bars where you can add mushrooms, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes and the like to your dish at no extra cost.

Wi-Fi

With free, password-free Internet access at all four Disney World parks, water parks and Disney Springs, you can share photos and videos while you relax and enjoy yourself.

Creative activity

The Epcot World Showcase is one of the best places at Disney to sample delicious food and drink from around the world, and it's also a great place to make some free souvenirs of your own. At the exhibition you will find what are called Kidcot Fun Stops, where children are given crafts to decorate. Such a small souvenir will become a priceless memento.

Night fun

You can end the day at one of the fun night activities offered by various Disney resorts. The Fort Wilderness Resort hosts the nightly Chip Sing n'Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long, where you can have a snack and sing your favorite tunes from Disney cartoons along with other guests. Many resorts offer free campfire gatherings for guests of any Disney resort. Another gratuitous privilege: night movie screenings under the stars, where Disney and Pixar cartoons are shown.

Vacation Planning Application

Actually, this is not a Disney World product, but a useful and free offer. Go to the Disney Parks website and click on “Free Vacation Planning Videos,” then choose your desired destination. For Disney World only, you will find more than ten videos detailing each of the parks and offering you planning tips. You can register to receive tips and suggestions.

Magic Dust

Stop by Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street for glittery "fairy dust" confetti. A full treatment, with hairstyle, hair gel and a chic shade, won't cost that much for Disneyland - about $20.

Delivery of souvenirs

This is not the most exciting free offer, but rather enjoyable! On any day of your trip, with the exception of the last, you can ask for free delivery of any souvenirs you have bought to the hotel.

Flight or driver's license

At Tomorrowland Speedway and Dumbo the Flying Elephant, kids can earn their driver's and pilot's licenses, respectively—a fun little souvenir that little ones will love.

Parking at Disney Springs

Unfortunately, you cannot park at the Disney Hotel for free unless you are a member of the Disney Vacation Club. Parking at Disney Springs is still free, but there are some reservations. You cannot get directly from Disney Springs to Disneyland fleets. You will need to use the hotel shuttle first, and then to the parks. In addition, parking at Disney Springs for a day in the parks is not very welcome by local guests.

Photos

It may seem like a good idea to get past the members of PhotoPass Cast, suggesting that they offer to take a picture of you on their camera and pay for it. But according to the travel blog, they are willingly photographed with you and on your camera (as a courtesy, it is recommended to take a PhotoPass card from the photographer after).
