Buying food is an inevitable cost for each family, which, despite high prices, remains the most economical way to eat, since going to a restaurant always costs more than food prepared at home.
However, the cost of products can be significantly reduced if you follow a few tips on saving, writes Huffington Post.
1. Stick to the list and do not walk around the store
Supermarkets intend to set up so as to force the buyer to go through the entire store. To do this, the most necessary and frequently purchased goods - bread, dairy products, vegetables and fruits - are placed in different parts of the store, which forces the buyer to go past all the shelves and often grab a couple more goods along the way that they did not plan to buy. Try to avoid this by strictly adhering to the shopping list and without unnecessarily joining the ranks with other goods.

4. Resist the temptation of famous brands
Famous brands often offer the same products as less promoted companies, but at a much higher price, which does not always mean higher quality. Check the composition of the product, and if it is not different, then it is better to purchase a less promoted brand and save.
5. Pay attention to the top and bottom shelves
Most buyers pay attention to products located at eye level, and grocery stores use this by placing more expensive products on these shelves. Therefore, you can find cheaper options for a particular product, if you pay attention to the upper and lower shelves.
6. Ask about extending the sale
When a product that is popular with most customers goes to a store sale, it is usually sold very quickly. Therefore, it is worth checking with the store employees - they can extend the sales time for goods that are quickly bought.

Many go to the grocery store after work and before dinner, while being hungry. If you buy food when you are hungry, you will subconsciously buy more than you need. Try to go grocery shopping on the weekends when you can shop on a full stomach.
8. Stay away from ready meals.
Do not buy ready-made meals in the supermarket, no matter how good they are, because in the store the price of the finished dish is several times higher than the cost of the ingredients spent on it. Therefore, it will be much more economical to buy the necessary products and cook this dish at home.
9. Try to eat seasonal food.
Buy products for the season. Firstly, they will have better taste, and secondly, it will save you money, because the products for which you are not in season in your country are being taken from afar, which automatically increases their value.

Culinary experiments - a good idea, not exotic spices will cost you much cheaper if you buy them on the market. In addition, there you will be offered a wider selection and quality of this product.
