According to an annual survey by Expat Insider, conducted by a group of online resources for expats, for the second year in a row, the capital of Taiwan, Taipei, was named 1 city for expats traveling abroad to work. The survey involved more than 20 000 foreign workers who represented 178 nationalities living in 187 countries or territories. Where else do expats like to live and work?

In the ranking of the best cities, emigrants evaluated 25 factors, including the quality of life, the opportunity to settle in a new place, job satisfaction, financial security and housing, as well as the cost of living at the local level, writes CNBC. Taipei came out on top due to its high ratings for overall quality of life and ranked third from 82 cities in this particular category.

Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, was named the second best city to relocate and has been identified as the world's easiest city to settle in a new location. English is widely used there, and 92% of expats think it is easy for them to live in Kuala Lumpur without even speaking the local language (on average, 47% of expats in different cities around the world think so).

Recent studies have shown that people who move abroad are not only happy with the change in their daily lives, but also see benefits in their careers. According to MetLife, 91% of employees who relocate are satisfied with their jobs, compared to 73% of their colleagues who stay put. And according to HSBC's latest expat survey, the average salary of 18-34 year olds increased by 35% after moving abroad, from $40 to $358.
