Co-founder of Snipfeed, Anas Bouassami, calls Artificial Intelligence a magic wand

The fear that Artificial Intelligence (AI) may conquer the world as they show it in the movies maybe be a little too farfetched but the concept behind it isn’t. Studies show that within the next five years development of AI will profoundly change the way we do things today.

According to 25-year-old Anas Bouassami, the Co-Founder of Snipfeed, an AI platform designed primarily for teenagers, AI technology opens up new avenues for development. SnipFeed provides its users with tools to filter and contextualize the content they receive from their chosen sources of information, regardless of the source or language it is in. “Our users receive personalized headlines from various sources allowing them to read further on the topic and learn more about the matter at hand, this approach is extremely new and we have used state-of-the-art technology to build the app,” he said.

According to him, the most extraordinary thing about SnipFeed is that the AI technology used in than not only makes cross-referencing possible but also check for facts. The Fakebuster tool in it creates a dataset of fake/ shady news, preventing young users from being misled. “It also allows users to put the information they have collected into a wider context. Our algorithm also helps readers choose the articles they want to read by presenting them with snackable content. Nobody enjoys scrolling down through loads of pages just to read one article,” he added.

Bouassami, who is bookworm himself loves the magic artificial intelligence can help create. “I have always been a big fan of Harry Potter, and though I don’t have a magic wand, AI technology allows me to create something unique every single time,” he said.

The young entrepreneur who was 10 years old when he moved to Switzerland with his family says that his life changed substantially after the move. “I was able to witness how different the life of children in Morocco is as compared to Switzerland. Children in Switzerland were more aware of various social, economic and environmental issues than children back home”. Bouassami, who has lived abroad most of his life, loves traveling back to Morocco, it’s such a magical feeling being there. “I love my roots as it has always inspired me to think out of the box and never give up on my goals,” he added.

Also voted as the 11th most influential Moroccans in the Silicon Valley, Bouassami has worked very hard to be where he is today. “I have faced a lot of challenges in the past, as many a time things don’t work out the way we want them to,” he said, talking about his experiences in organizing events and boot camps to support startups in Morocco and other parts of the world.

One such event was the Startup Weekend in Paris, a 54-hour weekend event where developers, young entrepreneurs, managers, and startup enthusiasts formed teams and worked to develop their ideas into a prototype, demo or presentation by Sunday evening.

“I organized this event in France back in 2016 to help encourage young and aspiring entrepreneurs to start their ventures.” According to him, the event allows participants to experience the highs and lows of starting a new business.

“Creating our enterprise may not be easy but it is the most satisfying experience to watch it make a difference in the lives of others.”
